What are Western Global Tanks Used for?
The right tools and equipment can enhance your productivity and efficiency on site. But they can only do that if they’re up and running, right? Imagine being stuck without enough fuel, unable to power equipment when you really need it. That’s just money going down the drain.
Now is the perfect time to prepare for the cold months ahead by stocking up on fuel. Your current fuelling method will likely depend on the project size, equipment needed and working environment, but our fuel tanks provide consistent, efficient solutions for all circumstances.
Winter ready: types of equipment that connect to Western Global’s fuel tanks
Winter means being ready for anything. From reduced daylight hours to hazardous roads and freezing temperatures, keeping on top of your fuel is more important than ever to keep your equipment powered.
Say goodbye to downtime and hello to increased productivity and efficiency this winter. Our bulk fuel storage tanks are your ticket to cost savings and better outputs, even in the coldest, darkest months.
Our fuel tanks can be connected to any equipment or vehicle running diesel or gasoline. Products like the TransCube Global (excluding 50TCG) can be transported full of fuel and forklifted straight to the site, equipped with your chosen accessories, so you can quickly set up and get to work. Your fuel is protected from the elements, and many of our tanks can be stacked to help keep frosty job sites clear.
We’ll list some of the equipment and machinery you can connect your Western Global tank to below, but nothing is off-limits. If you have any questions about your project, speak to our team, and we’ll find the ideal solution.
Stationary equipment
As the days shorten and the cold settles, we become more dependent on stationary equipment like heaters, lighting towers and generators. Harsh conditions require more power, especially on shorter, darker days when fuel theft is common and safety becomes even more of a priority.
Our tanks are compatible with a wide range of stationary equipment, including generators, heaters, pumps and air compressors.
Refuelling Generators
Generators are a vital piece of equipment – especially during the winter months. They help you stay up and running even during the harshest conditions, lighting your job site and powering equipment. But what happens when the power goes out and your generator shuts down?
That’s where our generator tanks come in. With a Western Global tank on site, you’ll have an uninterrupted source of energy, allowing you to connect and get back to work in no time. They integrate with different types of generators and provide that extra certainty you need in high-risk conditions, extending run times from 24 hours to 7 days. Tanks like our TransCube Global can connect to up to three generators or diesel-powered equipment simultaneously, ensuring you can continue working at all costs.
Heaters
The need for heating and fuel increases as the days get shorter and the temperatures drop. Without preparation, finding affordable fuel in time can be a challenge. Go without, and your equipment may freeze, concrete won’t cure in time, or employees may fall ill from working in cold environments for long periods.
Our fuel tanks connect to large industrial heaters – up to three at a time with our TransCube – or smaller heaters designed for short-term projects. They can operate for extended periods, keeping workers, materials, and equipment warm throughout the winter.
They’re also easy to maintain throughout the winter. Keeping your tank full and regularly inspecting your pumps and equipment is crucial to preventing sediment and water buildup that could damage the heaters.
Mobile Equipment
Many businesses rely on onsite fuelling, also known as direct fuelling, to refuel their mobile equipment. But this isn’t always the most dependable solution – especially when working in sub-zero temperatures and the roads are too dangerous to drive.
Fuel tanks are the more efficient method, upscaling your operations and keeping you winter-ready, no matter the circumstances. With plenty of fuel on hand, there’s less traffic onsite, reducing safety risks and saving on expensive last-minute fuel deliveries and shutdowns.

Earthmovers & excavators
Western Global’s fuel tanks can connect to a wide range of earthmoving equipment, such as:
- Bulldozers
- Backhoes
- Excavators
- Bucket loaders
- Trenchers
- Rollers
One common risk of excavations is the flow of groundwater, where it can become contaminated as you continue to move the earth in or out of a trench. You should be mindful of your local environment, avoiding costly fines and water pollution risks.
All our tanks are bunded, providing complete weather-proof containment and keeping your fuel free from the elements. These inner tanks also remove the need for containment pans, so you don’t need to spend time emptying them whenever they fill up with rain, sludge or debris.
This also means that your fuel has an extra layer of protection, preventing particles and contaminants from finding their way into your tank and affecting the quality of your fuel. If this were to happen, your equipment might fail, and you’d have to find new, fresh stock as quickly as possible. Situations like these are ones that our tanks aim to prevent.
Cranes
Many risks are involved in refuelling cranes, especially with tower cranes, where fuel drips can pose a hazard. A safety spill could lead to a costly cleanup and safety concerns for those on the ground.
We’ve designed our tanks with security and safety in mind. With bunded protection, a lockable equipment cabinet, and equipped hoses and poses, we ensure that both your workers on the ground and in the air are safe.
Our TransCube fuel tanks are designed for easy manoeuvrability and transport. They can be forklifted or dropped onto the site (with another crane!) and stacked, two high when full, three high when empty, saving valuable space. Their portability makes it easier to transport your fuel to a crane and refuel on the ground, as well as work high up, keeping you in control at all times.
Forklifts
As mentioned above, our transportable tanks can be forklifted on and around the site – but how do you keep that forklift powered all day? When your forklift runs low on diesel, you can also top it up using our fuel tanks.
If your forklift runs on diesel, you can either park your forklift near your tank (which should be in a safe, clear space), or – if on a large site with lots of ground to cover – you can tow your tank to your forklift instead. You can connect your fuel tank to the forklift directly, speeding up the process so you can get back to work quickly.
Fuel tanks for tractors & digesters
Refuelling tractors on a farm can be time-consuming, especially if you’re relying on elevated gravity flow tanks or based some distance away from the nearest fuel station. And when using multiple machines, such as tractors and digesters, all that time can add up.
Fuel bowsers such as our Abbi are towable tanks you can always keep on hand. They’re both rugged and tough, ready to refuel diesel-heavy equipment and help you keep up with demanding tasks. Designed for easy manoeuvrability, you can easily refuel tractors and digesters while having extra fuel onsite.
Our TransCube Global is also a reliable solution for agribusinesses. Its four-way pockets mean you transport it to, from and around farms using a forklift, refuelling up to three pieces of equipment at a time. It’s compact in size and protection, with your fuel safely stored inside without any risk of spills – protecting your local environment. You can see how it provided short-term fuel storage to jump-start a dormant digester here.
