People Behind The Tank:
Tommy & Anthony Capaldi

Q&A With Thomas Capaldi (Order & Logistics Planner) & Anthony Capaldi (Supply Chain Coordinator) – NA (Based out of Troy, MI)

How would you describe your job?

Tommy:  I am responsible for slotting new orders into the production schedules based on open capacity, quoting & booking transportation for orders, and managing our inbound tank shipments to ensure that they are arriving to the workshops in a timely manner. Some of the different functions that I get to work with on a daily basis are production, purchasing, supply chain, and the sales teams.

Anthony: My job could be described as ordering products and supplies from across the globe from various vendors. Maintaining healthy relationships with our vendors is very important to me. I work with our supply chain team on researching demand and analyzing trends to make sure our stock levels are set up sufficiently.

What made you want to join Western Global?

Tommy:  To be honest, I was not too sure what I was getting into at Western Global when I joined! This industry was quite a bit different from my previous experiences. The company was much smaller than what it is now (7 years ago!) when I joined, and I could see that there was plenty of potential. The development of this company has made me feel quite proud to be a piece to the puzzle in the growth & success.

Anthony: When I was brought on board, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. It did not take long to realize why this company was different from any other company I was at previously. The culture and people really stood out and that made me realize how lucky I was to be a part of this team. Being thankful to be a part of this team is an understatement!

What is your favorite part of the job?

Tommy: My favorite part of the job is working with many people that I would consider my friends. The relationships that I have been able to make here go beyond the workplace. This provides me with the opportunity to work in a comfortable atmosphere, which allows for better performance. This atmosphere is so unique and it is great to be a part of!

Anthony: My favorite part of the job is simply being able to work with the people of Western Global. Everyone is so willing to help, and it is contagious. We also have great suppliers, and I enjoy working with them on getting us the products we need.

Can you tell me more about your background?

Tommy: I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Oakland University with a major in Business Management & minor in Marketing (Anthony copied me 😊). Previously, I was working for an automative supplier which taught me how to work at a rapid pace and meet some very time-sensitive demands. This has helped me become more efficient with my work habits.

Anthony: Prior to working at Western Global, I was working for an automotive supplier. I went to Oakland University and graduated with a degree in business management and minor in Marketing.

When you are not working, what are you doing with your free time?

Tommy: In my free time, it is really important to me to spend time with my family. That is a pillar in my life which has helped shape me into who I am today. Other activities I like to do is play golf, workout, and hang out with my pet cat named Carly.

Anthony: When I am not working, I am pretty low key. Being with my family, playing golf, and working on fitness are very important to me. I also have a cat named Carly, and she always keeps me on my toes. 😊

If you were to recommend 1 thing to someone, what would it be? (Could be food, travel, hobby, really anything!)

Tommy:  I would recommend getting into golf. The reason for that is because whether you are playing seriously or just for fun, it is a great mental challenge that can help you in other aspects of life. I have played sports my entire life and this is one that I truly wish I had gotten into much earlier!

Anthony: I would say just try and stay present as much as possible. We all know it is very easy to look ahead and it may get us off track in certain situations. Enjoy the moment!
