People Behind the Tank: Matt and Jordan
This month, we’re excited to join the duo behind our Product team: Matt and Jordan. Dive into the full Q&A to learn all about their journey with Western Global.
Getting to know Matt and Jordan: Q&A
Matt and Jordan are familiar faces around Western Global. Fun fact: Matt celebrated an impressive 20-year milestone last year, while Jordan has worked for Western for 6 years. Last January, we created a specialised product team, and we couldn’t think of any two better to power the team. We sat down with our expert duo a year later to learn more about them.
How would you describe your jobs in one sentence?
Matt: Every day is different as I connect with our dynamic team, customers, and suppliers to ensure our product range and information meet and exceed customer’s needs.
Jordan: I have to be very versatile; one day, I might be working on training plans; the next, I’m diving into customer support to solve product issues, and then I could be working with suppliers about exciting new products.
What initially inspired you to join Western Global?
Matt: Joining a company with great company culture, quality product range, and a drive to provide the best products. It was an easy choice that felt like a perfect fit for me.
Jordan: I knew I wanted to be part of the WG family from the second I walked through the door. The atmosphere was welcoming, and you could see the passion in everyone’s work. You get a feel for the culture straight away. Fast forward six years, and choosing to be part of the WG team was definitely the right decision.
You’ve both grown with the company and have embraced new roles along the way. What makes this current role exciting?
Matt: The best part of my current role is the opportunity to connect and build relationships with diverse people and products across the industry.
Jordan: This current role is exciting because I have the unique opportunity to collaborate with virtually everyone across the organisation. Whether coordinating with sales, diving into operations, engaging with marketing, or connecting with the talented teams that design and engineer our products, each day offers something new and unexpected. Being part of a team that creates such a strong product is a great feeling. When I see our kit out on the field, it brings a sense of accomplishment that’s hard to match.
What’s your favourite product (besides the beloved TransCube) and why?
Matt: The Abbi is one of the best products in the Western product range. The fuel bowser has developed over the years I have worked in the company, which has resulted in the most versatile fuel bowser in the construction industry today.
Jordan: My favourite product has to be the 22DEF Cube. This was my first major project with the product team. We developed it directly from customer feedback, which showcases how we collaborate with our customers and internal teams to create something perfect and tailored to the market. Seeing so many of these cubes shipped out to happy customers is rewarding.
What are you most looking forward to this Spring?
Matt: With Spring coming, I look forward to spending more time outdoors.
Jordan: I can’t wait to play some more golf. I also have an 11-month-old, Alby, so I’m excited about all the adventures spring and summer brings. I also look forward to fun day trips and holidays with him and my fiancée.
How do you like to unwind when you’re not at work?
Matt: Outside of work, I enjoy getting outdoors, especially on coastal walks and spending time with the family.
Jordan: When I am away from work, I cherish the moments spent with my family and friends. I am also a keen darts player and part of a team- I play every Monday night, which is a fun way to relax and unwind (at least when I am playing well).
Lastly, we love to hear what people are reading, listening to, or watching. Any recommendations?
Matt: Currently listening to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Book “Be Useful; Seven Tools for life”, great inspirational lesson of how he found his true purpose.
Jordan: I am a big fan of TV series, and my favourite is “Peaky Blinders” I am currently watching “A Thousand Blows,” produced by the same brilliant minds behind “Peaky Blinders.” When I am not hooked on a great show, I love watching sports, especially football. I proudly support Manchester United (unfortunately).
What great suggestions! Peaky Blinders is an addictive series – a great show to get stuck into, and Schwarzenegger’s new book sounds intriguing. We know what we’ll be reading and watching this Spring. A big thank you to Jordan and Matt for sharing more about their journey with Western Global, we’ve enjoyed hearing about your passions and interests beyond work.
