How to check your wheel bolts
Checking your wheel bolts is an essential job. Loose wheel bolts have the potential to cause an accident and potentially severe injury to the driver and damage to the cargo. Fortunately, it’s quick and easy. Below, we break down the checks you should perform.
Checking your trailer wheel bolts
Every day, check that your wheel bolt indicators are aligned. These will immediately tell you if the wheel bolts are loose. If they are out of alignment, you need to tighten them. Even if they’re not out of alignment, you should ensure you tighten lug nuts every six months.
While doing this, check for any rust, corrosion or damage.
What torque for trailer wheel bolts?
Torque your trailer wheel bolts to 88 Newton metres each. Once torqued, refit the indicators.
