Autonomy in Africa: Fueling the French Army in combat
Location
Africa – conflict zones
Demand
Long run-time generator refueling
Solution
Containerized fuel tanks
Response
Re-deployable military refueling
A 28-day supply for constantly moving camps
In Africa, the French Army frequently moves camps through war zones. Everything they deploy in-theatre needs to be picked up and relocated to keep pace with transitional conflict. With unreliable, dirty local fuel supplies, they needed a solution that could be airlifted into place to provide generators with uninterrupted, secure energy for a minimum of 28-days.
Every asset specified had to be operational and compliant across vast territories, including Africa, the Caribbean and at home in Europe. Our in-house engineering team fine-tuned a battle-proven solution precisely fit for purpose: ready to keep kit running in truly hostile conditions.
PROJECT SOLUTION
Upgraded and resized for tactical delivery
We reduced the height of our tried and tested containerized fuel tanks, allowing them to be air freighted via the French military fleet and commercial aircraft. We added extra feed and return points to simultaneously fuel four generators per tank, and aligned quick-release hoses to match their equipment provider’s spec.
With some power units too small to prime the system, we added a hand priming pump, leaving nothing to chance. This tailored solution was delivered with global certifications – BS799 for France and UL142 for Africa and the Americas – and arrived as a plug and play solution, finished in the correct camouflage for its army unit.
