Southern Europe
JP8 jet propellant storage
TransTank M-series
A modular fuel chain, delivered fast
The United States Air Force needed their own reserve storage for clean JP8 at a base in Southern Europe. The challenge was to supply bulk offload and reload capacity – even if delivery trucks from the home nation weren’t equipped with pumps or filtration.
Regulations and a strict timetable meant constructing traditional fuel tanks wasn’t an option. They needed a temporary, modular system – and to avoid the time and cost of laying a concrete surface, a pad to match – without preparatory groundworks. They asked us if we had a fast, ready-made solution that wouldn’t rely on local labour or materials.
We organised a modular system of flooring for rapid deployment, making the site ready. Five TransTank M-series units were linked together, to efficiently transfer up to 350-gallons a minute to trucks without pumps. Each tank is self-contained, and double-walled – with no need for berms or secondary containment. Twin retail dispensers were fed via recirculation and filtration to ensure uncontaminated jet propellant – dispensing fuel directly to land vehicles and aircraft. We delivered a fast, environmentally secure solution to fuel the facility, with the entire chain capable of simple future redeployment by the USAF, which would be impossible with fixed tanks.
