Fueling fracking
2 x TransTank 8000
Fuel savings
Beneath the 100,000 square mile Marcellus shale formation, lies the largest volume of recoverable natural gas in the US. But extracting it requires continuous operation of powerful engines. They can demand 15,000 gallons of fuel a day, running 24/7 for a month or more, before moving to their next target bore.
Our customer needed an environmentally safe way to store vast volumes of fuel bought at the best rates. Any storage would need to be tough enough to be relocated frequently, and deliver filtered, containment free diesel required for modern trucks and towers. Relying on our tanks instead of those from a fuel vendor offers the freedom to buy at better rates from more competitive suppliers.
Our solution was a pair of TransTank 8000 gallon heavy-duty fuel tanks built onto a rugged oilfield skid. The control cabinet was supplied ready with pumping and filtration equipment, flow meters plus a fuel management system – all operated by existing employees on-site, with minimal training.
The flexibility for the operator to fill, dispense, monitor and move this expensive operational cost themselves delivered huge savings. It ensured continuous supply, quality control and better management over relying on traditional 3rd party suppliers.
