About The Role:

You will have commercial and operational accountability for all direct and indirect suppliers suppling into the North American operation. You will be responsible for annual price negotiations and for maintaining competitive pricing in an often volatile market. You will develop and maintain the supply base development roadmap, taking account of potential business impact of supply failure. (e.g. single or dual sourced decision).You will also ensure appropriate measurement and management interventions are in place to secure both commercial and operational performance of suppliers.

You will be conversant with standard ERP planning methodology (e.g. min/max planning, EOQ, ATP, Purchase Order, Sales Order structures, item and supplier master data) and have a solid understanding of supplier management. You will also be expected to lead and manage those in the procurement team. Critical to success will be your ability to build highly effective relationships with suppliers but also your ability to develop trust amongst your key stakeholders.  As an important member of the US Operations Leadership team you will also be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing development and improvement of operational processes and practices.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Review/negotiate pricing with suppliers (including yearly pricing increases)
  • Update new pricing and yearly pricing increases from suppliers in netsuite , when applicable
  • Ensure appropriate performance measures (quality, cost, on time delivery etc) of suppliers are done quarterly and provide quarterly scorecards based on the collected data
  • Inventory value measured through days inventory on hand
  • Collecting/analyzing data to ensure best market pricing based on annual purchases, blanket orders and larger qty one-time purchases.
  • Review and approval of Purchase orders for US and Canada locations
  • Review Demand History by item report to ensure Min/Maxs levels are at proper levels
  • Work with Central Planning manager for any large spikes in orders or larger future orders to ensure stock levels are correct to prevent delayed orders
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers, while researching new suppliers for substitute parts during shortages and long lead times with current suppliers
  • Supervise procurement team, training new team members and delegating new tasks as needed
  • Ensure relevant departments are aware of regarding pricing increases, material shortages, obsolescence notifications and anything else relevant to daily operations
  • Work with Warehouse Internal Logistics team leader with any discrepancies, wrong or defective items received on incoming Purchase orders.
  • Provide coverage for Local Procurement Co-Ordinator and Holco NA Procurement Co-ordinator during sick days, vacations etc.
  • From time to time complete other duties as required by line management

 

You Will Have:

  • 7-10 years in a similar supplier management, procurement or inventory / material planning role.
  • Ideally with a background in Net Suite, but certainly proficient in ERP systems
  • Ideally from a manufacturing or assembly background
  • Excellent communicator
  • Excellent inter personal skills and able to build good working relationships
  • Leadership experience
  • Good business acumen.
  • A flexible approach, with a desire to learn and develop.
