Western Global helps disaster recovery by #FuelingRecovery with donation challenge

In 2017 so far, we have unfortunately seen several natural disasters that have disrupted many people’s lives. Not only have there been the recent hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria right on our doorstep, but approximately 75 other incidents around the world are affecting thousands of others. Many businesses and organizations have been doing their part in helping with the disaster recovery efforts. Everyone at Western Global, a global fuel tank manufacturer, is proud to have unrolled our Fueling Recovery initiative. Our talented employees have pulled together to show the care, compassion, and sense of community our worldwide team feels.

“This is not an issue of business it was a matter of social responsibility, we wanted to help and support as many as we could who were impacted by the recent disasters.” Rob Critchley, CEO of Western Global, said when asked about the Fueling Recovery campaign.

Western Global’s new approach to fuel tank manufacturing allows us to be more flexible and responsive with our operations, focusing our support to the areas in need of help, at the time they most need it. Over this past two months our initiative helped us to send several fuel tanks into both Texas and Florida where they did their job and fueled the massive rescue and recovery operations. Following a great idea from one of our team, we were also able to donate bottles of water and clothing for these affected and have these transported with our fuel tanks.

Partnering with Direct Relief to help with disaster recovery

After these recent events, several employees indicated that they wanted to do more to help those whose lives have been impacted. Following careful consideration and research, Western Global has partnered with Direct Relief, a humanitarian organization active in more than 80 countries worldwide. Direct Relief’s mission is to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies.

Nongovernmental, nonsectarian, and not-for-profit, Direct Relief provides assistance to people and communities without regard to politics, religious beliefs, or ethnic identities. Most recently, the organization has provided support following hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, as well as the earthquakes in Mexico. Direct Relief has an excellent track record of using funds for direct aid by maintaining low overhead costs. They also have a four-star rating on Charity Navigator.

The #FuelingRecovery Challenge

During the month of October, we have set a goal of raising $5,000 USD to donate to disaster recovery efforts.

“We are happy that we have been given the opportunity to partner with Direct Relief, and that our donation challenge can make a real difference.” Barry Truan, North America Regional Manager said regarding the importance of Western Global giving to those whose lives have been changed by these disasters.

All our team members across the globe will be helping us in this challenge and all the funds raised will be given to Direct Relief who can then further support the world’s emergency recovery efforts.
