In-pit Refueling Bullets

An Australian iron ore mine looking for an in-pit fuel solution to maximize their productivity.



An Australian iron ore mine was looking to install refueling facilities on the circuit close to where haul trucks were carting ore. Haul trucks carried in excess of 300 tons each, so maintaining their fleet utilization was critical to meeting production targets.

Their traditional methods of fueling consisted of fixed fuel points away from the circuit and/or additional service trucks bringing fuel to the trucks. These methods were less efficient and added significant downtime to their process. The in-pit unit would need to be designed to suit their needs, extremely robust to handle the harsh, hot and dusty conditions, and maintain product cleanliness levels that new plant and equipment engines demanded.


Western Global called on their vast experience with in-pit refueling solutions to co-develop a portable in-pit refueling bullet that met the client’s stringent requirements. These refueling bullets also had the option of top lubricants and coolant to keep the fleet of haul trucks mobile. These heavy-duty bullets used top quality components to maximize uptime.


The innovative refueling bullets helped the customer maximize their haul truck fleets uptime by having their refueling points where the trucks were working. More time on the circuit meant increased production capability and fleet utilization.
